Abstract:

Social entrepreneurs have employed social capital, funding and a vision as intrinsic resources for
building social enterprise. Technology is another crucial resource which has the capability to transform
an idea into an operational endeavor. Technology supports in creating a new social venture, when one
could not achieve scale in the past or not create one in the past without technology . Using aspects of
Technology Diffusion theory, we show through several cases how technology can be another critical
resource that can be utilized by Social ventures to create and broaden their enterprises and apply existing
technology to leverage their businesses.
