Abstract:

Areas that welcome casinos are inevitably affected by the introduction of this specialized industry. It is imperative these areas explore the gaming industry’s effects on community residents and economic conditions prior to the establishment of gaming, which will better prepare these areas for the upcoming changes. This paper examines the impact of gaming in Tunica County, Mississippi through a comparison of the employment rates prior to the and following the establishment of the gaming entities in the area.
