Abstract:

Cross-training through self-directed learning (CTSDL) utilizes the full use of modern technologies and resources to reduce job stress. NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) reports, career concerns: insecurity; lack of opportunity for growth (advancement or promotion) and rapid changes for which workers are unprepared, lead to job stress (cdc.gov, 2017). These career concerns foster negative employee perceptions of organizational culture, policies, interpersonal interactions, efficacy, control and preparedness; deriving from organizational contingencies and constraints impact employees’ overall well-being. This paper advances these concepts; in the context of a job stress and OHP (Occupational Health Psychology) intervention.
